Jenny Neumann

My journey into yoga began as a paradox. I found the quiet of my inner world amidst the noise of New York City. My first class was in the middle of Times Square, while pursuing my undergraduate degree in Musical Theatre. It was a beautiful way of getting out of my head, and into my body. When I practiced at the studio, Yoga To The People , I was reminded of the interconnectedness of everyone and how it was possible to feel at home even in the middle of the bustle and never ending activity of a huge city. I was at peace despite external conditions, and I began to seek that peace daily. I returned home to Illinois five years later with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Screen Actors Guild membership, and a resume full of appearances on film and television. However, the more I practiced yoga, the more I began to realize that these outward accomplishments did not bring me true and lasting joy. I sought depth and wanted to discover the “true me” and share it through my art and performances.

Soon after returning, I enrolled in teacher training at Total Body Yoga , where my inward journey deepened tremendously. Yoga has allowed me to be an active participant in both my life and in my emotional healing. The more I practice, the more I’m reminded about the beauty of the moment, the miracle of the human body, and the infinite power of the spirit. As a teacher, my intention is to guide yoga practitioners to learn from the wisdom of their bodies, the capacity of the breath, and to offer a safe and sacred space for people to be themselves.

I’m certified through Blue Sun Yoga (Wendy Dahl, E-RYT and Adam Braun.) My teaching style is Vinyasa Flow and I also specialize in gentle and restorative yoga. I have additional training in Ananta Yoga, a method that makes yoga accessible to all populations (seniors, prenatal, restorative and more) and I’ve completed a course in teaching yoga to children. I’m forever a student of yoga and find practicing regularly with experienced teachers and attending workshops keeps me inspired as a teacher. My next endeavor is a 500 hour certification, which begins in December 2016. I’m also a certified Usui-Tibetan Reiki Master Teacher through Awakenings Holistic Wellness . I love sharing the gift of Reiki. I offer private sessions, group certifications, and Restorative Yoga with Reiki Healing workshops.

In addition to my healing profession, I teach Drama, Musical Theatre, and Acting for Film and Television at STEPS Performing Arts Center in Lindenhurst. I mix my passion for the performing arts and yoga by encouraging children to love themselves and to bring their own authenticity into their art. My work also includes private coaching for high school students auditioning for school plays, or college.
